• The Greater Mount Airy Habitat for Humanity was the victim of a crime Tuesday which involved an unknown suspect using a Habitat credit card to buy online items in a case of obtaining property by false pretense, according to Mount Airy Police Department reports. An online attempted transaction totaling $780 occurred.


• A crime involving check forgery was reported to police Tuesday. A check, the value of which was not listed, was stolen by a known individual from the wallet of Lesa Renee Reeves of Cherry Street at her home. That person then allegedly forged Reeves’ name and cashed the check. The State Employees Credit Union also is listed as a victim of the crime, for which no charges had been issued at last report.


• Also Tuesday, a larceny was reported in which an unfilled prescription for pain medication was stolen late last week from the apartment of James Fredrick Hallesy in the 100 block of West Pine Street.


• A Virginia license plate, number XUC9243, was discovered missing Tuesday from the front of a 1998 Ford Expedition owned by Patsy Ann Tate of Imogene Road in Lambsburg, Va. The incident occurred at Lady Bug Laundry on North South Street, where Tate is employed.
