DOBSON - With football season right around the corner, the Falcons will tune up with six other squads Tuesday evening in Dobson.

Forbush will join Surry Central, North Surry, East Surry, Davie County and Davidson Day School at Mount Airy for 7-on-7 scrimmages. Each squad will play three scrimmages against the seven other schools, starting at 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. at Wallace Shelton Stadium.

In the first matchup, the Falcons will take on host Mount Airy before battling North Surry. Forbush ends the night against 1A East Surry.

At 5:30, Davie County squares off with North Surry, while East Surry takes on Surry Central. Davidson Day battles West Forsyth to round out the first games.

The second set of games pit Mount Airy against the Golden Eagles, the Cardinals against West Forsyth and Davidson Day against Davie County.

Capping the night, the Granite Bears take on Davidson Day, while North Surry battles West Forsyth. Surry Central and Davie County round out the pairings.

Seven-on-seven scrimmages allow ‘skill position’ players - quarterback, running back, wide receiver and tight end - to shine. While normal football games feature 11 players on each side of the ball, these scrimmages eliminate the offensive and defensive line, except for a center.
