Dying to raise money for downtown
by Lindsay Craven
The Yadkinville Downtown Business Association’s biannual Dinnery and Mystery fundraiser will take place at Allison Oaks Vineyards on East Main St. in Yadkinville on May 18 at 6 p.m.
Tickets are $35 per person and include a wine and cheese appetizer and three-course meal. Ticket orders must be placed by May 10.
The play is titled “Jimmy Dies Tonight” and was penned by local artist Lisa Reavis Drum. The cast is made up of Yadkin locals Jim Drum, Lisa Drum, Donna Willingham, Becky McCarson, Tony McCarson, Nancy Montgomery and Wayne Matthews.
“’Jimmy Dies Tonight’ is a murder mystery comedy set at an open mike night at Allison Oaks in Yadkinville,” said writer Lisa Reavis Drum. “An open mike entrant, Jimmy Peepers, is murdered and detective Wayne Spade must work quickly to identify the killer. Everyone has secrets, but the secrets of the open mike group were dark enough for murder.”
The menu will be prepared by Regal Catering and Steve Potts. Ticketholders can expect tossed salad with homemade dressing, mango pork, scalloped potatoes, asparagus, rolls, regal organic strawberry crème pie and coffee, tea and wine for beverages.
The event proceeds will benefit the DBA’s D.I.G. organization for downtown improvement projects.
