Helen Mae Walker, age 84 of Elkin passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Mrs. Walker was born in Surry County on May 22, 1928 to the late Harvey Lee and Samatha Cheek Haynes.


In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Weaver Walker; brothers, Weaver Haynes, Bill Haynes, and H.L. Haynes.


Mrs. Walker is survived by two loving daughters, Judy Walker Pardue and husband James of Hamptonville, Donna Walker Sparks and husband Thomas of Charlotte; brother, Clint Haynes of Clio, Michigan; sisters, Eva Haynes Walker of Hamptonville, Betty Haynes Williams of Hamptonville; grandchildren, John Pardue and wife Heather, Susan Sparks, Brad Sparks and wife Krista, Shannon Watkins and husband Vince; great grandchildren, Walker Pardue, Anna Pardue, Andrew Sparks, Owen Pete Sparks, Ava-Belle Sparks, Aiden Watkins, Alex Watkins; and several loving nieces and nephews.


Funeral Services will be held at 11:00a.m., Monday, April 8, 2013 at Swan Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Nat Thompson officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Swan Creek Baptist Church on Monday, April 8, 2013 from 9:30-11:00a.m., prior to the service.
