Surry Community College is hosting a large Job Fair on Tuesday, April 9 from 9 a.m. to noon in the SCC Gymnasium located on the Dobson campus.
More than 40 organizations will be represented across a wide spectrum of industries: law enforcement, emergency services, governmental agencies, manufacturing, healthcare, viticulture/enology, financial services, retail outlets, childcare and the military. These organizations are recruiting for current job openings and future positions.
“We hope our students and the community members will take advantage of this opportunity to meet so many business representatives at one time and place,” said Anne Marie Hardy, Surry Community College’s Director of Career Services. “While the main objective for attendees is to land a job, just making that initial contact and networking often leads to other possibilities on down the road.”
Professional dress is required for job seekers who should bring resumes for potential employers at the job fair. Job seekers should also come prepared to complete job applications onsite and be ready to put their interview skills to work. The job fair is open to students, alumni and community members.
The agencies that will represented at the Job Fair are: Advanced Electronic Services; Bath & Body Works, BB&T, Central States Manufacturing, Inc.; Chateau Morrisette Winery; County of Surry, Daymark Recovery Services, Durham Police Department, 5Linx & Shaklee; Goodwill Career Connections - Elkin; Greensboro Fire Department; Haynes Strand & Company PLLC, Home Instead Senior Care; Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital; Insteel Wire Products; Leonard Buildings & Truck Accessories; Life Alliance, LLC; Lowes Companies, Inc.; Mary Kay Cosmetics; Maurices; Modern Woodmen of America; Mount Airy Fire Department; Mount Airy Police Department; North Carolina Army National Guard; Ottenweller Company, Inc.; Prism Medical Products; Quality Care Senior Services, Inc.; Rainbow Child Care Center of NC; Ridgecrest Retirement; SouthData, Inc.; State Employees’ Credit Union; Surry County Sheriff’s Office; Surry County Workforce Development Program (WIA); Twelve Oaks; Unifi Manufacturing, Inc.; United States Marine Corps; Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center; Wayne Farms, LLC; Western & Southern Life; Weyerhaeuser; and WorkForce Carolina.
