HAYS - Starmount picked up its second-straight Mountain Valley Conference victory Friday night in dominating fashion.

The Rams rode a strong pitching performance to a 7-0 shutout win over North Wilkes, cruising 7-0.

Jeremy Whitaker, Blake Cheek and Tanner Mathis combined for a two-hitter to lead Starmount, while Sawyer Davis added all the run-support the trio needed offensively.

Davis highlighted a big five-run fourth inning with a bases-clearing double to deep center to power the Rams offensively.

With the win, Starmount pushed its conference mark to 3-5 at the halfway mark and 3-8 overall.

The Rams look to build on the victory when they travel to 1A leading West Wilkes Tuesday night. The Blackhawks escaped Boonville with a 9-3 triumph in nine innings in the teams’ first meeting on March 1.
