RONDA - The Lady Elks breezed past 1A Mountain Valley Conference rival East Wilkes Friday night to pick up their third conference victory of the season.

After Amanda Ford struck first for the Cardinals, Elkin reeled off four-straight goals to pull out the 4-1 victory.

Katelyn Reece tied things up with a goal 15 minutes into the game before Deyonna Gonzalez gave the Elks a 2-1 cushion eight minutes later. Karla Fuentes gave Elkin a 3-1 lead when she found the back of the net on a free kick.

Payton Nicholson added an insurance goal three minutes before the halftime whistle as the Elks cruised to the 4-1 triumph.

Elkin, now 3-2-1 on the season and 3-1 in league play, return to the pitch Tuesday night against Ashe County before battling conference-leading Forbush Thursday night in East Bend.
