Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office deputies on March 12 arrested Amanda Kay Combs, 30, and Jamie Lamont Wood, 40, both of Elkin, based on felony and misdemeanor warrants from Iredell County.

Jonesville Police Department and Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office were attempting to locate Combs and Wood for questioning in an unrelated case when Yadkin County deputies located the pair at Welborn’s Motel in Hamptonville, according to a sheriff’s office release. Deputies spoke with Combs and Wood as the warrants were confirmed, the release said.

Numerous items of drug paraphernalia and evidence of prescription medication abuse were located in the couple’s room.

Combs was arrested for four counts of obtaining property by false pretense and two counts of trafficking opium or heroin and was given a $20,000 secure bond with a March 27 court date in Statesville.

Wood was arrested for failure to appear and was given a $1,500 secure bond with a April 4 court date in Mooresville.

The investigation in Jonesville and Wilkes continues, and other charges are possible.
