Wilkesboro man arrested at Hamptonville motel
The Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspect from North Wilkesboro on Feb. 22.
Alvis Whitted Jr., 61, Whitted was wanted by the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office on charges of trafficking in opium/heroin and felony maintaining a drug dwelling.
Whitted was staying at Welborne’s Motel located on Rocky Branch Road in Hamptonville.
Officers conducting a narcotics investigation discovered Whitted’s vehicle parked outside the motel. After confirming Whitted was staying in the motel, officers went to his room in order to serve felony arrest warrants.
After officers made entry into the room Whitted was arrested without incident. He was taken into custody by the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office and faces additional charges.
Those charges include possession with intent to sell and deliver a Scheduled II controlled substance, felony possession of cocaine, maintain a vehicle drug dwelling, possession of drug paraphernalia and injury to real property.
Officers recovered more than 10 grams of crack cocaine and $1,600 in cash. Officers also seized a 1996 Lincoln Town Car, gold jewelry, coins and several items of drug paraphernalia.
It is reported that Whitted was apparently trying to flee from Wilkes County where he has other drug charges pending for court and also has an active drug tax warrant in excess of $100,000.
The Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by other narcotics detectives from the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office.
