Mr. Avery Thomas Pardue, age 87, passed away, Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Pardue was born January 19, 1926 in Hillsboro County, Florida to Herring and Lilly Green Pardue.
Mr. Pardue loved his church family at Cool Springs Baptist Church where he was a member, deacon and a Sunday school teacher. God always came first in his life and he led most of his family to the Lord. Mr. Pardue was an avid gardener and golfer. He loved to make furniture, enjoyed cutting and burning wood and he enjoyed sharing the crops from his garden with his friends and neighbors. Mr. Pardue was a veteran with the US Army.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Margaret Pardue Williams, son, Mark Avery Pardue, brothers, Ross A. Pardue, Burnis H. Pardue and George G. Pardue and sister, Sarah P. Woodruff
Survivors include: his wife of 62 years, Dixie Blackburn Pardue of the home; daughters, Ava Pardue Hall and husband Robbie of Elkin and Rebecca Pardue Church and husband Don of N. Wilkesboro; grandchildren Denise H. Eubanks and husband Curtis of Union, SC, Caroline Williams of Greenville, SC, Sean Thomas Williams of Union, SC and Emily Church of N. Wilkesboro and great grandchildren, Riley Elizabeth Shropshire, Morgan Leighanne Eubanks and Mason Blaine Church.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 8, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Cool Springs Baptist Church with Rev. David Key, Dr. Rick Cockerham and Mike Baker officiating. Burial will follow in church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
