Hazel Louise Jackson, age 101, of Hillsville, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Twin County Regional Hospital. She was born February 6, 1911 to the late Addie and Joel Hawkins in Galax, VA. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Ewing W. Jackson; six sisters, Ola, Elsie, Kate, Eula, Ruth and Anne. Mrs. Jackson was a pianist for 50 years at Galax First Assembly of God Church. She was also a member of DAR (Daughters of American Revolution), a substitute teacher in Hillsville in her earlier years and worked for many years at Appalachian Power Company, where she retired. Survivors include several nieces and nephews and numerous other family members. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 2, 2013 beginning at 11am in the Twin County Funerals Sanctuary. Her Pastor for many years, Cas Horton will officiate. Burial will follow in Felts Memorial Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10am until 11am.
