Thursdays at 10:15 a.m. Book Babies with Miss Wendy will be at the Elkin Public Library. Featuring stories & songs for you and your baby. The program last for 20-25 minutes. Age 0-24 months and their caregiver.

• 10:15 a.m. Fridays is Story Hour for 2 and 3 year olds.


• 11:15 a.m. Fridays is Story Hour for 4 and 5 year olds.


Thursdays at 10:30, Boonville Community Public Library will have Preschool story time for ages 2-5 year olds. This will consist of stories, songs, and crafts. Call 367-7737.


6.00 p.m every third Tuesday of every month The American Business Women’s Association(ABWA)-Carolina Tri-Way Charter Chapter meets at Matty’s restaurant in Elkin on North Bridge Street. The ABWA brings together business women of diverse occupations and provides opportunities to grow personally & professionally through leadership, education, networking & national recognition. January 1st – March 31st 2013, The American Red Cross will be having “Building a better Blood Supply” promotion. Plan to donate and you will have a chance to win a $1,000 gift card from a home improvement store. The need for blood is constant. The Red Cross relies on Donor’s to fulfill needs for them. •4 p.m.-8 p.m.-Benefit Pinto Bean Supper at VFW Hut at Brooks Cross Road for Ray Livengood. Ray has Scleroderma, he will be traveling to and from John Hopkins Hospital to Baltimore Maryland and needs help with expense’s.


Approximately 30 Boy Scout Troops, Cub Scout Packs and Venture Crews will be distributing bags in the local community for the local “Scouting for Food” drive. The bags of food will be picked up on Saturday Feb 9th. The Food will be donated to the Tri County Christian Crisis and the Yadkin Christian Ministry. For questions you may call 835-3607.

• 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Grace Clinic will have a Soup Sale at the Elkin First United Methodist Church, 340 Hawthorne Rd. (church fellowship hall in back). $6.00 if served at the church. You get soup, crackers, cookie and beverage. $5.00 If you Pick up, no beverage. $8.00 if you want to buy a quart (advance orders recommended). Vegetable, Vegetable Beef, Chicken n’rice, Potato, Split Pea with Ham, Broccoli with Cheese, Corn Chowder, Taco soup and more will be available. • 7:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Boy Scout Troop 658 will hold a Flapjack (Pancake) fundraiser at Applebee’s on Hwy 421 in Wilkesboro. Applebee’s will be serving up short stacks of Pancakes for a tall cause. The Boy Scout Troop 658 in the Eastern Part of Wilkes County is raising funds to help send boys to camp and buy new camping equipment.
