The Yadkin Family YMCA will host Transformation Nation Triad (TNT), a free 16-week group training program led by personal trainers and wellness coaches to provide support, motivation and instruction to make healthy lifestyle changes. TNT is open to the public.
Registration will take place on Saturday, February 2, and is first come, first serve when the branch opens at 8 a.m. that Saturday. Participants must register in person at the branch where they wish to participate.
The program is for people with 20, 30 or more pounds to lose and includes weekly group workouts at the YMCA, weekly weigh-ins, daily exercise schedule, nutrition information from Forsyth Medical Center, childcare provided during normal operating offers, and a free t-shirt for all participants. The program is a partnership between the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina, WXII News 12, and Forsyth Medical Center.
Last year, the program helped the Triad lose more than 17,000 pounds. The Yadkin Family YMCA lost the highest percentage of weight as a branch across the nine branches of the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina Association competing in the program. The branch lost a total of 6.11% in body weight.
TNT is a Boot Camp-style fitness program designed for the beginning fitness level that will include a wide variety of physical activity such as body weight exercises that can be modified for any fitness ability. Trainers will work with participants to assess their ability and offer modification for exercises when needed, as well as show great ways to exercise at home. Participants must be mobile and able to exercise without assistance (including getting up and down off the ground). An aquatic session is available for those with limited mobility.
The Yadkin Family YMCA will host six sessions for 25 people each held on Tuesdays (aquatic session) at 1:30 pm, Tuesdays at 5:30 pm, Thursdays at 7 am, Fridays at 2 pm, Saturdays at 10 am, or Sundays at 3:30 pm.
“TNT is a program that helps people transform themselves inside and out. At the Y, we can provide the support and motivation you need to become a healthier you,” shared Becky Serine, Wellness Director of the Yadkin Family YMCA. “We are committed to improving our community’s health and well-being. This program is just one of the ways are working to make health accessible to all.”
