Mr. Raymond Gray Miller, 75, passed away on Friday, January 18, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born January 22, 1937 in Surry County to the late William Henry and Clara Law Miller.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, Sanford Paris Miller and William Hanzel Miller and a sister, Lena Mae Miller Inman.

Raymond graduated from Copeland High School in 1955. He retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company on August 1, 1990 after nearly 33 years of service. Upon retiring from RJR, Raymond worked for the State of North Carolina DMV. We don’t think Raymond ever retired from farming which he did from the time he could crawl until the time he could no longer sit atop one of his prize tractors. We know he never retired from loving and supporting and caring for his family. His family, what an easy term to say, but with Raymond, the volume of people he considered family is hard for most people to comprehend. Raymond enjoyed spending time at his farm and shop in Surry, was a diehard Wood Brothers fan, and loved life! Raymond was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Carol Jean Brown Miller; children, Reno Miller and wife, Tammy, Raleigh Miller, Will Miller and wife, Wendy; grandchildren, Cody Miller, Jake Miller, Luke Miller, Wesley Miller and Brady Miller. He is also survived by two sisters, Eva Miller Gough and Janie (Billy Joe) McHone. Also surviving is a special brother-in-law, Ronda Lee (Kay) Brown and a sister-in-law, Catherine (Phil) Shaw. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Bonnie M. Brown. He is survived by several wonderful nieces, exceptional nephews and special friends.

The family will receive friends Sunday, January 20, 2013 from 5:00p.m. – 7:00p.m. at Huff Funeral Home in East Bend, North Carolina. Services will be held Monday, January 21, 2013 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church on Nebo Road at 11:00 a.m. in Boonville, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 4309 Siloam Road, East Bend, North Carolina 27018 or Level Cross United Methodist Church, 4080 Siloam Road, Dobson, North Carolina 27017 or New Horizons Adult Day Services, Yadkinville, North Carolina.

The family would like to express special thanks to all the staff on the 8th floor at Forsyth Medical Center, caregivers and special friends who provided loving care and support to Raymond and his family. We are blessed to have you all in our lives. Huff Funeral Home of East Bend is respectfully serving the Miller family. Online condolences may be made at www.hufffuneralhome.com.
