In two separate child abuse cases, the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Marvin Ray Simcox, 25, of West Jefferson and James Colton Ray Eldreth, 22, of West Jefferson.


Simcox was charged with five counts of first degree statutory sex offense; two counts of first degree rape of a child; and three counts of statutory sexual offense by an adult. Simcox has a bond of $750,000 and more charges are expected. Simcox was initially charged on Jan. 4.


According to the ACSO, the alleged abuse involved multiple victims and began when children were five-years old.


Eldreth was arrested on Jan. 9 and charged with five counts of statutory sexual offense. He is currently under a $350,000 bond. According to the ACSO, the alleged abuse occurred over a two-year period.
