The Lady Huskies opened the new year with a pair of Mountain Valley Conference victories and both of them coming on the road.

On Wednesday, Ashe traveled to Alleghany and picked up a 48-37 victory.

Emily Flanagan led all Ashe players with 10 points and added six rebounds and a pair of steals. Freshman Ashton Lee scored eight points, including two three-point baskets.

Paige Spell added seven points and five rebounds, Chelsea Reavis had five points and four assists while Morgan Hudler had another solid game at the point guard position with five points and a team-high seven assists. Huder picked up right where she left off after being named MVP of the Colvard Oil Holiday Classic.

Ashe also had a good game from Victoria Reed with seven points and three steals, and Abby Lopp with four points, three rebounds and two steals.

The Lady Huskies wrapped up last week with another road win, this one coming over Elkin. Ashe easily handled the Lady Elks, 44-27.

Ashe (7-5 overall, 5-1 MVAC) is now riding a four-game winning streak and will have three chances this week to build on that streak even more. The team will host North Wilkes on Tuesday and non-conference rival Watauga on Wednesday before traveling to West Wilkes on Friday.
