Edward Jewell King, 79, of Woodlawn, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at the Twin County Regional Hospital, Galax. Mr. King was born in Carroll County to Davis King and Lizzie Mae Lawson King on June 28, 1933. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons Barry and Larry King. Surviving are his wife Elizabeth Merlene King of the home, daughters and son-in-law: Joyce and Addison Jones of Austinville, VA; Joy Creed of Galax, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law: Gary and Gina King of Hillsville, Virginia; brother Claude King of Galax, Virginia; five grandchildren – J.J. Jennings, Travis King, Josh King, Justin Vaughan, and Kalynn Wilkerson; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev Cas Horton officiating. Interment will follow in the King Cemetery in Carroll County. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home. A guestbook is available online at www.vaughanguynn.com
