Republican Howard Coble, who has been serving the North Carolina 6th District since 1985, has been re-elected to serve his 15th term in Congress.

As of press time, unofficial results showed that Coble had 60.06 percent of the vote in North Carolina, compared to Democrat Tony Foriest who had 39.94 percent. In Surry County specifically, Coble received 66.02 percent of the vote and 33.98 percent of the vote.
