BOONVILLE — Mr. J.D. Roosevelt “Buck” Wood, 68, of Boonville, passed away on Tuesday morning, Oct. 10, 2012, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born in Surry County on Aug. 12, 1944, to the late Pete Wood Jr. and the late Marylene Southard Wood. He was retired from Insteel Wire Products in Mount Airy. Buck loved to hunt, fish, and spend time with his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Phyllis Newman Wood of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Everett Honeycutt and Tabitha and Robert Sellers, all of Boonville; four grandchildren, Austin Owens, Cheyene Pruitt, Carson Sellers and Mia Sellers; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Helen and Bob Marion, Linda Cooke and Ann and Wayne Martin, all of Mount Airy; one brother, Larry Wood of Elkin; and one sister-in-law, Pam Wood of Dobson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Faye Wood; a son, Pete Bradely Wood; and one brother, Ellis Wood. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor Neil Pressley will conduct the services. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, Oct. 12, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. Moody- Davis Funeral Home in Dobson is serving the Wood family.
