A Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to serve five years in prison after robbing the CVS pharmacy in Galax in June.

According to Carroll County Commonwealth’s Attorney Nathan H. Lyons, Brian R. Sloppy, of New Millport, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty to robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery in Carroll County Circuit Court on September 18.

Circuit Court Judge Colin Campbell sentenced Sloppy to serve 20 years in the Virginia Department of Corrections. After serving five years, Sloppy will have the remainder of his sentence suspended and he will be placed on active supervised probation. Sloppy and a female co-defendant robbed the CVS pharmacy located in Galax, Virginia on the 24th of June 2012 taking multiple opiate drugs including Oxycodone and Oxycotin. Both were apprehended with the items in their possession within minutes of the robbery.

Lyons thanked the Galax Police Department for the excellent job they did in investigating and apprehending the individuals responsible for the offense.
