MOUNT AIRY — Miss Lillie Viona Hunter, 92, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at Central Continuing Care. She was born Nov. 25, 1919, in Patrick County, Va., to the late John and Susan Ella Smith Hunter. She retired from Renfro Corporation and attended Friendly Chapel Church. Surviving are two sisters-in-law, Ina Sue Hunter and Hazel Hunter, both of Mount Airy; 16 nieces; and nine nephews. In addition to her parents, Miss Hunter was preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel Willard and Essie Lowry; five brothers, Romey Hunter, Curtis Hunter, Walter Hunter, Monroe Hunter and Wise Hunter; and her special friend, Robert Tucker. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Bro. Don Collins. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. The family would like to express its appreciation to Central Continuing Care and Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the wonderful care given to Miss Hunter during her illness.
