Charles Edward Hamm


Mr. Charles Edward Hamm, better known as “Eddie,” of Dover, Del., formerly of Ashe County, died on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012. He was 52.


Mr. Hamm was born on Sept. 27, 1959 in Elkton, Md., to Edward and Ella Greer Ham. Mr. Hamm was preceded in death by his father, Edward Ham.


Mr. Hamm was always friendly, he loved life and enjoyed being around people. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter.


Mr. Hamm is survived by his daughter, Brandi Becker of Pennsylvania; his granddaughter, Sadie Becker; his mother, Ella Mae Ham of Jefferson; one brother, Randy Ham of Winston-Salem; four sisters, Teresa Lee Wingler and Patricia Peters, both of Wilkesboro, Karen Marie Ham of Jefferson, and Lisa Barker of Lansing; and several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Jim Francis and the Rev. Doug Hardin. Burial followed in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.


The family met at the home of Wayne and Lisa Barker at 2013 Deep Ford Road in Lansing following the graveside service.


The family received friends from 2 to 3 p.m. on Sunday at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.


Flowers were appreciated, or memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
