The Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Elkin Jaycees have teamed up to bring something new to this year’s Pumpkin Festival.

The Elkin Jaycees will be holding a cornhole tournament around 1:30 p.m. after the produce weigh-ins.

“The Jaycees wanted to be involved with the Pumpkin Festival and talked to the festival board and came up with the idea of a cornhole tournament,” said Levi Shore, who is chairing the event for the Jaycees.

Playing under the rules of the American Cornhole Association, up to 16, two person teams can register to play.

All teams must pre-register, with a $20 registration fee, at the Elkin Recreation Center. If spots are still open, players may register the day of the event, Shore said.

Winners can win up o $160 and the registration money will be donated to both the Chamber and the Jaycees.

“It gives the Jaycees a chance to be part of a local festival and introduce ourselves to those who don’t know much about us,” Shore said.

For more information on how to register, contact the Elkin Recreation Center at 835-9814.
