MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Ruth Evelyn Goad Davis, 72, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Surry County on Jan. 5, 1940, to the late Willie and Fannie Mathis Goad. Mrs. Davis was retired from Renfro Corporation and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, James William Davis of the home; daughters and son-in-law, Dani Fleeman of Hendersonville, Sherry Kelly of Waynesboro, Va., and Angel and Matt Cutler of Mount Airy; sons and daughter-in-law, Billy R. Nunn of Draper, Va., and Wink Davis and fiancée, Ashley Comer, of Mount Airy; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sisters and brother-in-law, Betty and Teddy Ray Hayes and Judy Haynes, all of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Billy Goad. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Alex Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Midkiff Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
