The summer comes to an end with the last Cruise-In.

Reminiscent of Elkin’s old cruising days, the Cruise-Ins started in June to help raise money for the Reeves Theater.

“Things have been really positive at every show. I’m really glad it’s gone well,” said one of the event’s organizers, Vicky Roberts. “The police department said they hadn’t gotten any complaints and businesses open during the event said they were busy.”

The last Cruise-In will have music hosted by the Elkin Jaycees. Joe Walker will be bringing classic car music with J&B on the Rocks. The Jaycees will be set up on the Twenty-One and Main patio.

“Next year we will try to have more music,” Roberts said. “We saw how it went this year and where people’s interest were and will probably have more things to do next year.”

Already planning for next year, Roberts said the Cruise-Ins will start in May rather than in June, giving an extra month.

This weekend’s Cruise-In will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Downtown Elkin on Saturday, August 25.
