The next Downtown Elkin Cruise-In will be this weekend.

The cruise-in is to help raise money for the Reeves Theater.

Hundreds came out for the first event to see classic cars cruising and parked down Main Street and Standard Street.

The event is also to promote downtown businesses, which are encouraged to stay open during the event. At the June Cruise-In, Royall’s Soda Shoppe had so many diners they ran out of food, said Vicki Roberts, co-organizer of the event.

“The turnout was awesome,” Roberts said. “Everybody seemed very pleased with the event.”

The event is free and money is raised for the Reeves through t-shirts that were designed by co-organizer of the event, Jody Goodwill. T-shirts are $20.

The event will begin at 4 p.m. and has been extended to 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 28.
