Yadkin Valley Habitat for Humanity is calling all artists and crafters to participate in ART for HOMES.

This project invites local artist and crafters to make art out of items donated to Habitat for Humanity’s Home Shoppe, and turn someone else’s trash into treasure for a fundraising auction.

The first ART for HOMES was first held in 2009 as part of the celebration of the group’s 20th year. Now in its fourth year, ART for HOMES invites both professional and aspiring artists to transform any piece of furniture from Habitat less than $50.

Art is due to the Home Shoppe by Sept. 1, 2012, and submissions should include a “before picture” along with the artist’s name for display at the auction.

“In years past, the auction has been held at the Habitat Home Shoppe, but this year it will be at the Arts Council,” said Sherry Norman, volunteer coordinator.

The Auction will be held at Foothills Arts Council on Saturday, September 8 at 7 p.m.

Habitat is now recruiting artists and crafters to select their pieces from the ReStore. The ReStore is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

For more information, call the Habitat Home Shoppe at 526-4663 or 526-2277, or visit the Upper Yadkin Valley’s Habitat for Humanity website at www.uyvhabitat.org.
